Okay, I've been going at this for the past 2 hours and I have no idea about what's going on.

I keep seeing a black screen and this on the lower right side.

Microsoft AntiSpyware isn't finding anything and Adaware finds several files but when I click quarantine, it freezes with the Deleting Selected window. I looked up the files from the scan log and manually deleted some of the files. I restarted but I still see that screen.

I also tried, but I can't do, a System Restore. There's no calender. Click.

Did you try booting in 'Safe Mode' and try to run the adware removers?

What happens when you try the tab buttons?

Everything in Themes, Appearance, Settings and Screen Savers works. That Color: drop down menu works, as does the Customize Desktop button. Stoopid Background menu. <_<
