Ravi,

Looking for a (free) program that'll let me connect and control the computers on my LAN. Remote Desktop will not work because none of the computers are XP Pro, just Home. And I just want the client running in the background of the other computers, and mine to have total access and control.

VNC lets you control remote desktops. It's free, and there a several versions of it out there. QuickVNC as the server and RealVNC as the client worker best for me.
