Does Ravi (or anyone) know how to get a computer to recognize the CD drive? I'm at my parents house and last week their computer spontaneously stopped seeing the CD drives. We don't know how it happened and we don't know how to get it back.

Look at the device manager first. to see if there are any ! near the 'IDE/ATA/ATAPI controlers' or 'DVD/CD-ROM DRIVES'
Open the computer and check if the cables to the drives (power and IDE) are properly connected.

Ok, we did that. The cables are connected but there's a ! next to the "Sencondary IDE Channel"

Right click on it and do a troubleshoot. let me know. It you are lucky, it might turn out to be bad cable.

so, heres my story: these guys at school kept making my life miserable but i managed to procure their ip addresses

my question: what groovy things can i do with these that will annoy them, possibly get them into trouble with their parents but isnt too evil? i know theres a way to send them messages in error-kinda windows but im not sure how....revenge....

:lol: no, dear, not even close. i think its just about time i got back at them for 5.5 years of being picked on...now my brother offered to 'take control' of their pc's...but i think that might be over the top. now theres lots of other things to do of course...i mean its not like im gonna erase their bios or something, just....scare them a little
i mean, what if their parents were using their computer and suddenly they got an error containing a message from 'john' asking to visit his website full of gay porn...wow that would be precious
