The hourglass keeps on blinking.
It's doing ^that again. :(

Is it going to explode or something?

Is the CPU busy? Can you hear hard-drives?

It stopped now but when it happened previously, the CPU spiked to 100% when I checked it.

I don't know. I'm looking at it now and it's Firefox but it's not at 100% so I'll check again when it's spazzing out. :ok:

When it freezes, do a control+alt+delete and look at your task manager to see what all is running.

what was taking up most of it? explorer?
I checked it when the cpu usage was at 100% and none of the running programs were close to it. Most of the processes were at 0, some between 0-10, and a couple that were between 20-40. I checked it another time and the System Idle Process was in the 90's. I don't think it's one of the processes on that list because everytime the hourglass starts blinking, the CPU usage always goes to 100% but the program that's using most of the CPU is never the same or it's not even close to 100.

What else can it be? :(

the CPU usage always goes to 100%
are you assuming this from the little green icon on the bottom right taskbar? or from the task manager performance tab?

 Did you get your power back at least?
oh yeah. But during the hurricane I started reading old books, Madame Bovary and Sherlock Holmes, and the candle light set the perfect mood. Now I turn off all the light and read by the candlelight....

Leony, you are on XP right? did you check "Show Process From All Users" ?
