Fact of the day

You blink over 10,000,000 times a year.

In Silence of the Lambs, Anthony Hopkins is on screen for only 16 minutes.

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts. So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them to mind their own pints and quarts and settle down. It's where we get the phrase "mind your P's and Q's."

I was gonna post that but I was afraid I wouldn't remember the story properly.

I remember another one kind of like that, where in the pubs the bartenders would put whistles on the regular's mugs so when they got low then they would just blow the whistle and he would know to fill 'er up. So that's where the term "wet your whistle" came from.

The term "rule of thumb" comes from an old English law that says that you can't beat your wife with anything wider than your thumb.
