Hi Again,
Just going to weigh in briefly with a couple more comments.
First, It's SO exciting to see everybody so fired up about this! If anything I said in my first post was misconstrued as being negative let me set the record straight: I'm as obsessed as everybody else here about finding the song.
I was just trying to help point us in what I think is the right direction based on 2 strong conclusions.
1) As a music professional I've never heard the song. I've heard that *sound* but that song was never a Top 10 hit on any chart in the 80's.
2) When you Google a short lyric line *in quotes*, *spelled correctly* the result is that the song and its' lyrics ALWAYS come up in the 1st page of search results. (For example: type in "relax said the night man" and the whole first page of results brings up "Hotel California" by the Eagles)
It actually works *best* when you use an uncommon line. The key is that it must be in quotes and it should be spelled correctly. I've found EVERY song I've ever looked for using this technique (except this one!!).
--Therefore--
If you type in "a pawn in the game" or even just "pawn in the game" the song should come up. But if not, then adding "let the story" to the search should definitely bring it up.
But more than one of us has Googled the sh*t out of every possible combination and it's not coming up.
That means it is highly unlikely the song was ever in the mainstream.
Therefore, I think our best energy is spent directly on Comcast. I'm going to start by e-mailing every person in their advertising department whose e-mail address I can find.
I'll report back in a day or two with the results.
Don't suppose it would hurt anything if anybody else wanted to do the same thing.

P.S. It will be bittersweet when we do find it, since this thread will come to an end
But as Deep Purple once said, "It's not the kill, it's the thrill of the chase" !!
P.P.S. Anyone want to put a friendly wager or prize up for the first person to "get it"?
