What are your favorite Video Game Soundtracks?

Well if you hear to "beyond good and evil" music you will love it too! :)

FF VIII is rpg whereas BGAE is action/sci-fi/adventure but both's music is really good in their categories :)

cmon ppl u forgot the tony hawk series it has a great mix of punk and rap
and gta vice city, every genre of 80's music u can ask for my 2 favorites and the theme song of streets of rage

Those are all cool, I was just thinking of music that was written for video games.

The soundtrack for the old computer game "Interstate 76" was great. Sounded like funky 70's television/movie/porno music.

Zelda: A Link to the Past
for the Super Nintendo.

OH YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!

I like Bill Brown's music alot, plus you can get pretty nice copies of it for free off his website.

My favoirite single game soundtrack?

Halo: Combat Evolved.

So many good game soundtracks!

Of course the Final Fantasy series are right up there (good old Nobuo Uematsu and Masashi Hamauzu - forgive any spelling errors)

But also VERY good are the Monkey Island and Grim Fandango sountracks.

Also worth checking out is the soundtrack for Space Channel 5...

but if i had to choose a single soundtrack: Grim Fandango.
It was consistenly great throughout the entire album...
the problem with FF is that you tend to get a few GREAT songs and then the rest are just mediocre at best...the sountrack doesn't really work in its entirety outside of the game, but Grim Fandango's a great album to listen to any time...

:)

hey all, newbie to this forum but am a big fan of game music and game trailers. indeed there is a lot of great music out there in games, i think some times i play a game just to here the perfect sympony play that accends the mood of the gameplay, whether its a frag feast or some thing that plays hauntingly while i figure out a puzzle. it makes everything so much more lively and engaging. everybody mensions plenty of inspiring collections , some i like , some i love , some i have not been fortunate to here yet, for me it was undoubtedly MECHWARRIOR 2 , i played the game 6 or 7years ago but i still listen to it every now and then. recently i really loved the sountracks from both HITMAN 2 and 3, the composer was as many here may know is JESPER KYD. i heard that he is making the soundtrack for HALO 2 , the music in the trailer was awsome . cant wait for that game to come out. by the way anybody know who composed the music in MECH 2 ??

speaking of which, the music from Beyond Good & Evil is fantasmagorical as well....

that is all...

I like a couple of tracks from the music in The 7th Guest. The game sucked though.

The music for the old Amiga games Sword of Sodan and Shadow of the Beast 2 were pretty cool for the time.

yeah, i got that game in nevada on vacation.
i thought it was supposed to be a cool game but it really sucked!

wow. no one has mentioned grand theft auto: vice city;
one of the best game soundtracks ever imo.

^ Actually, those songs aren't really original...

Well, to add to the topic, I'm joining the FF bandwagon and saying:

reverse order
7|Liberi Fatali [Final Fanatasy VIII]
6|1000 Words-English [X-2]
5|Suteki da ne [X]
4|Beyond The Darkness[X]
3|Black Mage's theme [VI]
2|Terra's Theme[VI]
1|OPERA HOUSE SONG [VI] :luuurve: :P

now no one can argue..

that opera house song is called "Dream Oath" and is a variation of the celes theme...with a bunch of other stuff thrown in for good measure.

and at about 23 minutes long, it's a hefty song to download....if you download music...which I don't....of course....
