i think the coolest part is the shadow, looks completely real

Yeah the lighting was a pain. If you look carefully you'll see that below the tree trunk there seems to be a repeating pattern in the grass. It's a picture I edited in photoshop to tile nicely (for the most part haha) on the top of a cylinder which acts as the ground. Then the the rest of the field and buildings and sky are wrapped around in a sphere. The problem was that the grass photo and the sky and buildings photo were two different colors and different shades of light and dark. Not only that but I wanted the lighting to have a nice effect on the trees and leaves. It sucked big time haha.
