Well.. see.. I can't agree with that, because as a general rule Democrats are more liberal, and the very definition of liberal is Being Open Minded. That's not to say that there are plenty of Democrats that just vote blindly for their party, but you'll probably find that the majority of liberal voters are extremely well educated and vote the way they vote because they've seen that conservatives want to limit or define civil rights and protect coporations over the environment - or whatever your soapbox might hold - and they don't agree with it.
Maybe Republicans do the same thing. But (and there are a few exceptions to this observation, Garret and Rhonda being two) as for the rest of the Republicans I know, they vote Republican because of religion. They've been conditioned by religious leaders to believe that even THINKING the same way as liberals is a sin. I have a born-again friend who badmouths Michael Moore up and down but refuses to watch any of his movies and make his own decisions about them because he QUOTE is afraid he'll get brainwashed like me. I've heard people *ANTHONY* say "Be careful you're not TOO open-minded or your brains will fall out." I can't understand, condone or agree with any political party or religion that teaches their followers that learning is bad.
As for being outspoken.. the world doesn't get changed by people that sit around and do nothing. If you enjoy clean air, civil rights, grass, trees, or the right to worship whomever you choose, thank a liberal.
But maybe it's because you live in a liberal state.. because where I live, in the charming South, the Democrats are pretty meek and the Republicans are outspoken. I hear some of the most disgusting racist and sexist bullshit every day here, all from proud conservatives. If anyone thinks they're right and are too ignorant to look at both sides, it's a drunk gun-toting redneck with a mean streak and a voter's registration card.
