Sounds Like Album Leaf or Explosions In The Sky...

Yeah I love Simon and Garfunkel, and Bob Dylan is a great lyricist. I have those, and I've got Grateful Dead, too. I'll have to check out Phish and Leftover Salmon, hey, you have a seafood theme going there!

Thanks for the tips, all, and the links!
And thanks for all the fish!

You can also try these bands out

Matthew Good Band
Mojave 3

Should Definately Try The Umbrellas Im Pretty Sure You Guys Will Like Them.
Here is Good Songs From Them

The City Lights
Ghost
Set The Scene
Broken Ice

Oh And I Loved The Walkmen Thanx For The Advice :D :D

Thanks, I appreciate it! I have Saves the Day, very good

Looking up the Umbrellas as we speak!
hmmm iTunes doesn't have them I'll have to look elsewhere.

Anyway, I thought of a few more for you too!

The Bravery (I think you'll love the song An Honest Mistake)
Damien Rice
The Webb Brothers
Rufus Wainwright
Acceptance
Ben Lee (Catch my Disease is good)
The 88- (How Good Can It Be is a good song)
The Polyphonic Spree
Blonde Redhead
Bliss (aka Scott Mcginley)
Eels
Low
Ben Folds
Low Millions
Antony and the Johnsons
Brendan Benson
Pawnshopmusic- reminds me of Franz Ferdinand
wolf parade- (jamie d mentioned them first in another thread) they sound a bit like bright eyes, do you like them?
bubble gum blue girl (teddy is a good song)

ALDR123456789N mentioned Kasabian, what did u think of them? Did you like the Decemberists? What about the Dears? And did u like Spokane?

To Check out if you like it... I found most of the songs on Ares Galaxy because I could not purchase them on iTunes. I know I cheat but I live in a city that doesn't have even a decent place to find music.

Another fun band... Architecture in Helsinki. About a dozen young Australians playing every instrument you can think of. Chaotic sometimes, happy always. Similar to Tilly and the Wall in a way. (Who, by the way, were one of the peppiest bands to see live. I saw them supporting Rilo Kiley and The Elected) That was a fun night...

The Bravery is ok, they're terrible live...I wanted my money back.
Damien Rice is amazing.
Rufus Wainwright makes me want to go to places. Awesome.
Ben Lee - only one hit and it's not even that good.
Ben Folds - I could say the same thing..."Brick"
Kasabian is amazing.
Decemberists are a moving group.
The Dears - the dude has a terrible voice, quite annoying.

other suggestions:

Sufjan Stevens - One of the best Indie-Folk artists out there.
The Stills - An Amazing and underrated band, best band I've seen live.
Adem - another brilliant Indie-Folk musician, saw him open for Badly Drawn Boy and his cd is very hard to find.
Jason Collett - was a member of Broken Social Scene and his debut album is really really good. Saw him open for The Stills and I couldn't stop bobbing my head.

The Stills are a great band so is Damien Rice but the eels werent that great thanx anyway i will check out the other bands.

oh and elefant is a great band live you should go see them.

Broken Social Scene was awesome!!
I liked The Boy Least Likely To, also,
and I enjoyed the New Pornographers, they sound very 80s to me!

I agree with what ALDR123456789N said about Ben Folds and Ben Lee, as i just liked only those two songs, myself.
Anyone heard The Thrills? I have one wonderful song of theirs, I have yet to see if the others are good too.
Another one you might like was Gary Jules singing "Mad World" - you know, Tears for Fears remake. It's from the Donnie Darko soundtrack. Wonderful soundtrack (and movie).
And you know what else? the Pixies- "Wave of Mutilation" and "Monkey Gone to Heaven"

ALDR123456789N, just curious, you have an expressive way of writing, do you write poetry? Cuz if u don't, you should!

It's getting hard to keep up with all the band suggestions here, but I love this thread!

If u really like the postal service you should try stars and their album hearts i swear their lyrics will put you in the mood for love. :D

Not heard much of The Thrills, except for songs like "Big Sur" and "One Horse Town". They sound like a great band to drive to, so I should check that out. The Postal Service is the opposite style of Death Cab For Cutie, which is why I like them better, though it's practically the same band.

A lot of people are trying to bring back bands like Pixies and Smiths, all this stuff...I don't know why, but I just can't see myself listening to that stuff. The new Death Cab cd had an amazing song called "Marching Bands of Manhattan."

You guys are really pouring in the band suggestion and it's really awesome, keep them coming. Right now, I can't stop listening to my M83 cd "Before The Dawn Heals Us". I want to see them live, but I don't think they'll ever come down to Toronto. Two songs I suggest: The Doves - Snowden and The Reindeer Section: Cartwheels.

Oh, I forgot to mention...one of my favourite bands is French Kicks. If you guys haven't heard of them, check their site out here.

The best Stars album is the 2003 release "Heart." I own the new album, there isn't as much to savour as their last album. So, check it out.

As for poetry, I don't mind it. I'm not a poet, it's just my natural way of writing and when you mentioned it; I swear, I went back to my previous posts and found nothing that prove that my style of writing could assume that I'm a poet.

I loved Stars! thanks R3AZN! Awesome band

I can't find the Umbrellas. You sounded so definite about them, so where did you get them?
Have you found any more new bands this thread that you liked?

ALDR123456789N Ok, the reason I said that about being a poet, you have an expressive turn of phrase. I enjoy reading it. When you said Rufus Wainwright makes you want to go places. I liked that. It made sense, somehow.

Oh, I love the Smiths. But there is a lot of new stuff to check out right now, too, so you have a point there.
I have to check out M83. I love the Doves, but don't have Snowden, so maybe I'll get it. And Yeah, I like the French Kicks too, "Alabaster City" I play over and over.
Sufjan Stevens is a joy.

brittneya, where did you buy the Boy Least LIkely To?

Everyone's suggestions have been wonderful;
I've spent more this month on music than ever-lol

and thanks to Andy I've gotten out some of my older stuff, too which is nice. I'd forgotten how much I liked some of it.

The first time I listened to "Barcelona" by Rufus Wainwright, which is probably my favourite song by him...I swear, I wanted to pack my bags and leave that night. "Directions", "California", "Vicious World", "14th St"...there are a lot of songs that makes you just want to leave and go off somewhere. I love the feeling. Anything that gives you that feeling is something worth it.

I found a really interesting band that you should all check out. Indie-Rockish...I love the guitar riffs, I love the lead singer's voice...everything comes out very clear and bold. Very very awesome!!! The album is called "Mercury" and here is the website.

Ok! I see lots of new stuff, Iloveit!

Been to the beach for a few days and heard a new indie station, though I 'm not sure I agreed all of their stuff WAS actually indie, but I liked the station anyway. I'm in California, and I heard this in Newport, it's 103.1 Indie Fm.

easlilywow,
You listed a lot of stuff, some I know, some I don't! (Esp I like Massive Attack, "Teardrop," and also by them "Angel".) I went to that site and yes, I do like lots of those artists, and maybe there will be some new ones there, too. Hey, Cool site, btw! Thanks!

ALDR123456789N I couldn't get that site to come up, it just never finished loading. Could be me, my computer's very slow. I'm going to look on iTunes.

You may have put your finger on it, that may be the appeal. Well, part of it anyway, I really like him too. He has a yearning quality or something.

R3AZN I'm playing Stars and Umbrellas and Lovedrug over and over, Thanks! That was right on!

ALDR123456789N I really Love M83, and you just threw that out there, didn't you? It's a hit!

Not sure if this is allowed or not, but I host a show on Sunday nights from 10pm-12am EST that plays much of this music. You can find the show at
Auralgasms Radio

The station also plays a unique mix of dreampop, triphop, brit pop, singer-songwriters and alternative flashbacks 24/7.
