Songs that remind you of other songs ...

"Simply Irresistable" by Robert Palmer

AND

"My Sharona" by The Knack

I just realized how similar they are today....it's uncanny.

Goldfrapp - Ooh La La

And

Dr and the Medics - Spirit in the Sky

Oh yeah, the beginning of the songs especially. I forgot about this thread, but if I remembered I would have mentioned that one too. ;)

This pair comes to mind:

"Beautiful Feeling" by P J Harvey (iTunes) & "Dead Man" by Pearl Jam (iTunes)

Different canvases but painted with the same brush, IMHO.

How 'bout a recent find of mine. That new song by The Raconteurs "Steady As She Goes" and Joe Jackson's "Is She Really Going Out With Him". The beginning is uncanny.

almost all of Blur's songs have vocals that sound very simular to the Gorillaz style.

Okay if you ever listend to Moby youll know that alot of his songs and the song ButcherBlues by Kasabian sound a LOT a like.

and actualy Butcher Blues sound most like this one song by Moby, just i cant really remember it, and i dont have that particular sond in my library tho. but youll know what im talking about if your a moby fan

Hehehe ... Great minds obviously think alike! :P

To quote myself from the very first post in this thread ...
Example 2 ...

New song:
The Raconteurs - "Steady, As She Goes" - CD: Broken Boy Soldiers
BN sound sample - track 1

Older song:
Joe Jackson - "Is She Really Going Out With Him"
BN sound sample - disc 1 track 1

The start/stop beat and the bass of the two songs remind me of each other ...

LOL!

New Songs That Sound Like Other Songs Thread

Hey, Anyone heard the new Jessica Simpson song "A Public Affair"? It's not my "favorite" genre of music, but I think it sounds a lot like Madonna's song "Holiday". Just wondering if anybody else noticed that or thinks the same? It says here that she co-wrote the song.

Ten bucks she did the same thing Sting did for the Dire Straits. He was asked to sing backup on Money For Nothing and he sang the I Love My MTV part to the tune of Don't Stand So Close To Me so he could get partial songwriting credit. That's what I read somewhere anyway. Anyway my point is they mighta just took that little tune from Holiday and because of that they had to give Madonna writing credit.

I think that the beginning of Bon Jovi's "It's my Life" sounds like music from the Goldeneye Game for the n64.

The song Cherish Ft. Sean Paul "Do It To It" has similar sounds compared to Ciara's - "Oh".

Ok, another one ;)

Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams

And

Stefy - Chelsea

Ok, here's one my husband thinks sound the same. What do you think?

Howard Jones - Things can only get better

And

Stefy - I love you to death

Back with a few more songs to compare ...

Newer tune:
Paul Oakenfold - "Faster Kill Pussycat"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 1
Older tune:
Bodyrockers - "I Like The Way"
FYE sound sample - track 2
Both songs have that same rocking vibe.

Newer tune:
Madonna - "Sorry"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 3
Older tunes:
Jacksons - "Can You Feel It"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 1
Kylie Minogue - "Love At First Sight"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 2
To me, Madonna's song really ripped off the background music of the Jacksons' tune.

Newer tune:
Madonna - "Get Together"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 2
Older tunes:
Daft Punk - "One More Time"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 7
Madonna - "Holiday"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 1
To me, Madonna was ripping off both herself and Daft Punk's background music.

Newer tune:
Bon Jovi - "Who Says You Can't Go Home?"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 13
Older tune:
Gin Blossoms - "Follow You Down"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 9
The only bit of the songs that remind me of each other is the fiddle intro to Bon Jovi's song and the harmonica highlights of the Gin Blossoms' tune.

Newer tune:
Blue October - "Into The Ocean"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 3
Older tunes:
When in Rome - "The Promise"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 1
Howard Jones - "Everlasting Love"
CDUniverse sound sample - track 13
In my mind, the Blue October song is the love child of both the When in Rome and the Howard Jones songs.

Enjoy!
There you go.

Anybody else have anything new to add?
