These days it seems there is a new music genre as often as there is a hot new cell phone trend. I know this society is bent on the obsession with categorization but seriously who are the dorks that expliot it and come up with these crazy titles? Anyways, can anyone suggest a search engine, index, or something out there on the Net that takes what we are all supposed to know about genres and makes it just a little easier? For me, I'm looking for recommendations on real and true "Mob, casino, Italian bistro" styles of music. Something a Saprano would listen to while getting psyched up for a dirty job, or relaxing with fine wine, cigar, and lady, or paying respects to a fallen brother. Also, Russian or euro-like composer orchestral pieces that center on deep, heavy cello and just plain darkness. I have more along the lines of jazz, oriental, india, and native american. So as you can imagine such a culturally driven proposition for the normal everyday Barnes and Noble attendant is understated as a challenge. Any ideas or am I going to have to devote hours to deciphering the brilliant world of genres?
