News Reports

I'm ok :)

Freezin cold in a over-air conditioned classroom. Brrrrrrrrrr. But I'm getting more work done than usual so that's good. Work today?

I hate it when classrooms are too cold. Yep, I'm at work as usual. We've actually been busier lately which is good. :) :woo: Woot for no lay-offs!! Hopefully that will stick.

Better yet, promotions for everyone!!! Tell em I authorized it. Oooh and you can have a raise while you're at it.

<--such a nice guy ^_^ :P

Yay!! You'd make the coolest boss!! Around here we don't even know what raises are anymore. We haven't had one in 6 years! Sucky.

So watcha workin' on today?

:o Well that's Dumb!

Right now I'm working on an InDesign lesson for my digital publishing class. Ehhh. Kinda boring right now. Just working on master pages and guides and stuff. Ehh.

(InDesign's just like photoshop except less photo oriented and more layout oriented. Just in case you didn't know and were wondering what i'm talking about :P )

I sure didn't. Thanks for letting me know. :) I wonder why it's so quiet here today.

Sorry, I couldn't remember your real name. I want to say Kenneth? Is that correct? I'm going to feel bad if that's not it.

it is :)

yuo remembered

Yeah it's Kenneth. :) That can't possibly be legal, what your job is doing to that guy! Seriously what would they do, fire him for telling them ahead of time that he's helping the governemt with a search and rescue mission? Shoot ain't y'all allowed sick days? He should just call from LA and say he's sick. :(

Glad I got it right Kenneth. :)

Yeah, my job is all kinds of screwy. From what I understand the labor laws in Oklahoma are really quite relaxed when it comes to employers and what all they are allowed to do. I guess since this guy is just doing volunteer work and isn't actually employeed by the government then they have the right to tell him no. But I just think that they are being ridiculous because he's doing a greater good and if their company was literally underwater they would want as much help as they can get. I guess they think that this whole tragedy doesn't directly effect them. I think that it can and does affect them in many ways. They piss me off. <_<

Oh yeah, as far as sick days? Well, we don't get them. They basically average up this percentage of how much time we are actually scheduled to work versus how many hours we actually worked and we can't go over a certain percentage. So like, for my pregnancy, I have to use FMLA for all of my doctors appointments and then that uses all my vacation. Then when it's time for maternity I only get 6 wks unless a doctor says it's medically necessary that I take longer and I have to use short-term disability which they don't even provide. I have to pay for it myself. They found one company that will consider maternity leave as short-term disability which I've never heard of an insurance company doing that before.

What the @#$%^&!?
I've heard that somewhere before that there is enough room for the average sized man to lay on the tracks and a train go over without harming him. I never knew if it was true or not.
