they are good guys, comparatively. they tolerate religions other than islam, refused to join Saudi Arabia when they became free in 71, the justice system is independent of islamic laws, they don't require foreigners (women) to wear burqua etc.

Qatar was the first, (and AFAIK, only one of the two) middle eastern country to screen Mel Gibson's 'Passion Of Christ'

no I saw that too, heard it was last week. My daughter read it somewhere. I took her with me to work this evening, I had to go to another site, we dropped her car off to get the nail removed from her tire.

So check this out. On the Katrina topic and helping out. This guy at my work participates in a volunteer search and rescue program where he trains dogs. This is like a group that works for the state of Oklahoma and they are sometimes called to help out with national crisis's. Anyways, they called on him asking for his assitance in New Orleans to help search for cadavirs (sp?). Well, my employer will not work with him on this so he is working all day today, driving to New Orleans to do what he can until 4am and then driving back here and working all day tomorrow. Isn't that just crappy?? I can't believe that they won't work with him. Especially when it's just one person. It's not like half of the department is needing to leave. They also haven't done any type of donation collection or anything. The last place I worked at, I was a member of the employee club and we were always having like blood drives and canned food drives and stuff in order to help out different causes.
