About ten years ago, I had the misfortune of living in the middle of some fraternities. For the most part, I hated the noise, but there was one time when I heard a fraternity blasting an oldie-ish song that I thought was very catchy. I couldn't hear any of the lyrics, so I wasn't able to identify it. Although it wasn't the only "unsolved mystery" on my list, since then, I have literally spent hours searching through music catalogs trying to identify the song and always came up empty-handed.
So imagine my surprise when I heard the song again, for the first time since then, in an HP ePrint commercial last night:
The song is "Brand New Key" by Melanie (iTunes). It has also been covered by Katharine MacPhee (iTunes).
Apparently the song is also coincidentally on the soundtrack to Jack(bleep) 3D, which just had a huge opening weekend.
