Favorite movie soundtrack?

I've got to weigh in on this one with Natural Born Killers. Where a soundtrack is defined as a musical journey through a film, this album nails it (no pun intended.) Seamless use of actor dialogue, original songs combined with contemporary and classic tracks... perfection.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy
The Star Wars Trilogy
The Indiana Jones Trilogy
Jurassic Park
Schindler's List
The Last of the Mohicans
The Road to Perdition
American Beauty

I would have to add:

- Forrest Gump - excellent collection of oldies and classic rock

- Varsity Blues - good late 90's and songs

In alphabetical order (as opposed to preferences):

The Anniversary Party (Michael Penn, the Eels, etc.)
Garden State
The Graduate (a resonating classic)
Hackers
Stealing Beauty
Trainspotting
The Truth About Charlie (Manu Chao, Gotan Project, etc.)
Wim Wenders' "Until The End of the World" <--- which is my FAVORITE of ALL
Vanilla Sky
Withnail & I

By no means a favorite film, the "Against All Odds" soundtrack has an amazing track by Peter Gabriel called "Walk Through the Fire"

"Collateral" - perfectly captures the diversity, noctural excitement, and sprawling urban lonliness of L.A.

"Memento" / "Mulholland Drive" - both have a dark, subtley insidious feel that washes one over with pain and sorrow. Captures the emotions of the movie perfectly.

"Last of the Mohicans" - main theme is one of my favorites

"Braham Stoker's Dracula" - "Vampire Hunters" track used ubiquitously in commercials and trailers

"Eyes Wide Shut" - those songs from the mansion "Hiros Gamos" party still give me nightmares.

"Unbreakable/Signs/The Village" - James Newton Howard just writes darn good music.

"Hero / House of Flying Daggers / Croutching Tiget, Hidden Dragon"

This is a repeat, but I too love the soundtrack for...

Vanilla Sky  (Spiritualized, Sigur Rós, the Nancy Wilson scores - oh so many!)

And I liked all the 80's covers on the 50 First Dates Soundtrack. :D

Romeo & Juliet and Moulin Rouge (ah that Baz Luhrman) are up there too.

According to your answers you may be pop music fans, but what about the best film scores of all time ?

Requiem for a dream! all the way.

but non-score albums:

Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels
or
Swingers

In no particular order, here are my favorites:

-Titanic
-Apollo 13
-Jurassic Park
-The Ring / The Ring Two (although I only really appreciate the original "Ring" music by Hans Zimmer"
-The Sixth Sense
-Signs
-The Village (Hilary Hahn really does an incredible violin job.)
-a little of the first two Harry Potter movies, but all of Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban (I'm going to be in for something completely different since Patrick Doyle is doing the 4th movie, although I think I've read he's retaining some of the original John Williams themes)
-Lord of the Rings trilogy
-Edward Scissorhands
-A Series of Unfortunate Events - "Drive Away"
-The Sea Inside (El Mar Adentro) - most notably, "El Viaje" (Alejandro Amenabar is sort of a hidden talent, I'd never heard of him until "Sea Inside" despite the fact that he directed "The Others")

That's about it...basically I like most soundtracks :D
