Fact of the day

The average women consumes 6lbs of lipstick in her lifetime. :ermm:

I wonder if this is true or not. I just got it in an email.

Giving the Finger:

Before the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, the French, anticipating victory
over the English, proposed to cut off the middle finger of all captured
English soldiers. Without the middle finger it would be impossible to
draw the renowned English longbow and therefore they would be incapable
of fighting in the future. This famous weapon was made of the native
English Yew tree, and the act of drawing the longbow was known as
"plucking the yew" (or "pluck yew").

Much to the bewilderment of the French, the English won a major upset
and began mocking the French by waving their middle fingers at the
defeated French, saying, See, we can still pluck yew! "PLUCK YEW!" Since
'pluck yew' is rather difficult to say, the difficult consonant cluster
at the beginning has gradually hanged to a labiodental fricative 'F',
and thus the words often used in conjunction with the one-finger-salute!
It is also because of the pheasant feathers on the arrows used with the
longbow that the symbolic gesture is known as "giving the bird."

LOL I've read that before, it's a joke. At least the "pluck yew!" part, ya never know the cutting off the middle finger part might be for real.

I heard the part about chopping off the middle finger of the archers and then taunting them by giving them the finger before. It was in my history class tho I don't know if the teacher was joking around or not.

Who knows, it's hard to tell with all these emails now days. Like, there was this one that I totally fell for, it was a petition to sign in order to stop some evil company making bonzai kittens where they stuffed them into a jar at a young age and then after a period of time you break the glass and then the cat is shaped like the jar. I know it sounds ridiculous but there was this huge long petition attached and what they had said about it sounded real. Anyway, I completely fell for it and forwarded it to all my friends. Some of them signed too and a couple people replied stating it was a hoax.

That one isn't that bad. A couple years ago, I got one that said if a AIM, MSN or AOL user who goes by the name Slavemaster or something, contacted you do not respond because he has murdered several women in the New York area. It turned out to be a hoax but it freaked me out. What kind of a moron starts an email like that?
