Celebrity Sightings

I've got a few more. I didn't mention them earlier since they were celebs that came through the animation studio I worked at and not celebs spotted out "in the wild", so to speak.

Weird Al (went to lunch with him and half a dozen folks from work)
Ray Harryhausen
Rick Baker
Chuck Jones
Gus Van Zant
Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO)
Mike Ploog (cartoonist)
Ed Asner
Matt Groening

Here are my encounters with "stars":

John Schneider ("Bo" in the Dukes of Hazzard, now "Jonathon Kent" in Smallville): He was sitting in a booth at a local restaurant, and I couldn't take my eyes off him. People thought I was insane & telling me that it wasn't really him. I gathered up some courage, and mosey'd myself over. I was so shy I just stood there. My friend came over and asked for his autograph for me. He said, "You are so young. You can't possibly know who I am." (I was 17 at the time.) I just nodded and smiled like a fool...I had had the biggest crush on him when I younger. Then he said, "Well, I am glad you do. Nice to meet you." He smiled and shook my hand. I turned and ran like a giddy school girl. After that, other people started going over to him.

Brian Setzer - Foxwoods Casino: My husband and I were playing the slots. (Oh, must say that husband & I were big into swing dancing, etc.) Then my husband looks up from his machine and screams like a ninny, shouting "OMG, it's Brian Setzer." Then he starts running after him. Brian S. turns and looks at this 210-lb. muscular, grown man running towards him. He in turn starts walking faster...then disappears. (I think Brian freaked and ducked into one of the "secret" places.)

Oh, and Radoslav Nesterovic from the San Antonio Spurs. We were at a club and he walked in. Not like you can't notice a basketball player in a crowd.

Just a few years ago, when I was still in college, Sugar Ray played a concert at our school. At one point during the concert, Mark McGrath walked off the stage out into the audience. As he wandered past the people in the floor seats, he walked farther toward the back of the venue. My date and I were sitting in the upper level right by the railing, and all of a sudden there he was. Mark reached out a hand for someone to pull him up, and myself and a couple of other guys helped him over the railing. He stood right in front of us and sang a few verses before he had to climb back down and head for the stage again. My date was so excited she didn't even move. She just stood there and gazed at him with that starstruck look in her eye. I was excited too, but not nearly as much as she was!

I met Insane Clown Posse one time too. They were at a CD release party and autograph signing for this music distributor that a friend of mine works for. Believe it or not, they were real down to earth guys!

I also met local celebrity, and former University of Minnesota Golden Gophers basketball coach, Clem Haskins. I was working as a host at a local Mexican restaurant and I seated him and his wife. As he was leaving, I asked him for his autograph!

Insane Clown Posse live a few houses down from my in-laws. It's funny to see the big guy tooling around on scooter.

Hmmmm...
- Ian Ziering (lol, I was like 11, we were at JFK airport in NYC, I was too embarrassed to talk to him, so my mom got his autograph for me!)

- When I visited LA, I saw a few people for some reason: Warren Beatty, driving up in the hills (NICE car), Meg Ryan getting gas right behind us at a gas station on Sunset I think!!!, and....the end all (for me anyway)....I saw Brad Pitt, AND he winked at me! We were driving near his house, and we came to the same intersection. He was driving his brand new escalade (this was a couple years ago), and smirked and winked at me, and drove off! I almost died. (I'm such a startstruck nerd.)

- And, just b/c I'm from Boston, where the Red Sox are considered celebrities here, I've met/ spoken to Gabe Kapler, Johnny Damon, Jason Varitek, Trot Nixon, Kevin Millar, Manny Ramirez, etc.

- Dan Patrick (from Sportscenter) called me one night :p He was at a bar where one of my friends was, and they were hanging out, so she had him call me. Funny.

Well, these aren't really celebrities but I saw Landon and Sarah from the Real World Philadelphia at Ruby Tuesday's last night

Hmmm good question....I'm not sure. I think they were just together that night because for some reason, they were at visiting Western Connecticut State University the night before and I guess were just in town for the weekend.

Ledzepgrl, do you go to Western CT State? My boyfriend's brother went to Eastern, he pitched for their baseball team.

No, actually I don't go there....but I live near it...and have a bunch of friends that go there...I have a few friends that go to Eastern as well. Are you from CT?

I'm not, but my boyfriend is from Danbury. I grew up in the boonies, in the Berkshires...not much going on out there...

How old are you LedZepgrl, if you don't mind me asking? Boyfriend and his brother are 24...

I saw Peter Gallagher from the OC at Walmart today, with his beautiful blonde wife :p
