We are living pretty good still compared to the rest of the world so buck up. Its very common for people in Europe to be paying double what we pay. If you ever want dirt cheap gas again you are going to have to move to Venezuela or the Middle East.

Except in Europe they have socialized medicine so maybe they can afford higher gas prices since they aren't forking over $$$$$$$$$! for their healthcare. Also Europeans who live in larger cities walk or bike or take mass transit to get around. So many people live close to EVERYTHING it's not a big deal to go to a grocery store or go shopping or whatever.
Most of us are living ok, I'll grant you that. But it's not getting any easier for the middle class. I can attest to this.
