The music I am looking for is heard is the new promo ad for the Scorsese special on Turner Classic Movies (TCM).

It is bluesy rock guitar with no vocals.

I am pretty sure I have heard this song before, so I do not believe it is an original piece made solely for the ad.

Well the TCM promos I've seen,which weren't specific,have music by Jimi Hendrix and if my memory isn't too rusty it's "All Along The Watchtower" and the bit they play sort of matches your description.Couldn't find a clip with that particular bit,though.
