For those of us who have been around a while, the tune from the beginning of the movie 'Inglourious Basterds' is call 'The Green Leaves of Summer'.
John Wayne liked it so much, he used it for his movie, 'The Alamo' back in 1960. There were words to it back then...'To be young...'. When I went to see the movie as a kid, I loved the melody...it seems to fit well for battle or war movies...very whistleable or hummable.
