I'm already planning for my dance classes this fall, and I had a really cool idea for one of the routines already. Now, I just need songs. So far, I'm about 99% sure that I'm using "Dead!" by My Chemical Romance and "Ghost" by Michael Jackson. I'm looking for more songs about death or ghosts. Upbeat ones only, please. :D

-"Prelude 12/21" and "Miss Murder" - AFI (Used on the same video)
-"The Last Firstborn" - Celldweller
-"When I'm Gone" - The Click Five
-"Cursive Eve" - I:Scintillia
-"Papercut" - Linkin Park
-"Dead Man's Party" - Oingo Boingo
-"In The Shadows" - The Rasmus
-"Never Too Late" by Three Days Grace

These probably have the wrong tempos, but I just went through my library and picked out the....rock....ones, I guess.

I've got more; I just have to search a little.
If I think of any, I'll post them.

Thanks! That'll give me a good place to start. I also failed to mention, I definitely don't want the obvious choices like "Ghostbusters" or "Thriller". I will take eerie instrumental music though. ;)

Come to think of it, I actually do know some songs.

1. Death Cab For Cutie - Soul Meets Body
---GREAT SONG.
2. Celine Dion - Immortality
---More inspirational than upbeat.
3. Vinyl Dharma - Sunshine Rave
---GREAT SONG. This song is about that teenage wasteland, vacuous suburban life, dialectical materialism stuff and so on. Currently available on MySpace/SNOCAP only.
4. Vinyl Dharma - Infidelity (same link)
---Cool Song.
5. Live - Lightning Crashes
6. Death in Vegas - Girls
7. Van Hunt - Dust
---GREAT SONG, REALLY UPBEAT.
8. Coldplay - Yellow
9. Coldplay - Fix You
10. Blue October - Hate Me
11. Blue October - Into The Ocean
12. Black Box Recorder - Child Psychology
---Great Song, but SERIOUSLY, NOT FOR SUICIDAL PEOPLE.
13. Aqualung - Strange & Beautiful (I'll Put a Spell On You)
14. Aqualung - Brighter Than Sunshine
15. Anna Nalick - Breathe
16. Miranda! - Prisonero
17. Télépopmusik - Breathe
18. Air - Surfing on a Rocket
19. 311 - Love Song
--- Desparate "undying love" type song
20. Train - Calling All Angels
21. The Raconteurs - Steady As She Goes
22. The Killers - Read My Mind
23. Thom Yorke - Black Swan ---Very morbid, very cool.
24. Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
25. Stabbing Westward - Bizarre Love Triangle
26. Seal - Love's Divine
27. Santana, ft. Everlast - Put Your Lights On
28. Sarah Bright, ft. Gregorian Master of Chant - Don't Give Up
29. Sarah Brightman, ft. Gregorian Masters of Chant - The Touch of Angel
30. Sarah Brightman - Scarborough Fair
31. Peter Gabriel, ft. Paula Cole - Don't Give Up (Live) --Best rendition of this song by FAR.
32. Paula Cole - Where Have All The Cowboys Gone
33. Robbie Williams - Angels
34. Robbie Williams, ft. Joss Stone - Angels (Live) --Better than studio version
35. P.O.D. - Youth of a Nation
36. Moby - Porcelain
37. Moby - We Are All Made of Stars
38. M83 - Don't Save Us From The Flames ---Great Song.
39. Mazzy Star - Fade Into You
40. Gorillaz - Feel Good Inc.

----------------------------------------

Holy crap, I can't believe I know of this many songs!

Now, not all are gonna fit the bill. But a few definitely will, i.e. both morbid & upbeat. These songs are either:

i. Morbid & Upbeat
ii. Melancholy & touching the themes of vacuous suburban existence & teenage waistland, etc.
iii. Melancholy but uplifting.
iiv. Desperate "undying love" type songs.

These are just the songs on my iPod collection. B)

If you're looking for good errie instrumental music, check out film scores by Danny Elfman. Haha all the good Burton films. :p

Good eerie songs of his:

-Edward Scissorhands Theme Song
-Beetlejuice theme song
-Corpse Bride Theme Song

I know it's not instrumental or anything, but the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack is about as ghost-like as they come.

I know a bunch of modern bands (Fall Out Boy, Panic at the Disco, Fiona Apple, ect.) did their own covers to the songs.

I know it's kind of....cliché.
But still a good option to look at.

Definitely love all the Danny Elfman soundtracks. I was actually thinking about throwing "Remains of the Day" from Corpse Bride into the mix. I'll check out those cover songs too.

The cover of "This is Halloween" by Panic at the Disco is by far my favorite.

Not too different. I just think it sounds good with Brendon's voice.

Marilyn Manson also did his cover of "This is Halloween" but it's....more Marilyn Manson-ish.

1. Blue Oyser Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper ---someone else mentioned this above
2. Blue Oyster Cult - Burnin' For You
3. Santana - Black Magic Woman
4. The Eagles - Hotel California (Live w/ accoustic guitar)
5. Goo Goo Dolls & Fred Durst - Wish You Were Here (Live, 911 Tribute to Heroes) --Original is by Floyd, of course.
6. Stereophonics - Devil
7. Primus - The Devil Went Down To Georgia ---Original version is much better.
8. James Blunt - High --all of Blunt's songs seem to have a death wish quality to them.
9. James Blunt - Carry You Home
10. The Moody Blues - Nights in White Satin
11. AC/DC - Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

-------------------

Note: the song "Youth of a Nation" by P.O.D. which I listed above is about a school shooting I believe. "Lightning Crashes" is actually about death/rebirth. The two Blue October songs might be what you're looking for.

A couple more.

-"Like a Stone" - Audioslave
-"Stiff Kittens" - Blaqk Audio
-"Adam's Song" - Blink 182
-"Diary of Jane" - Breaking Benjamin
-"So Cold" - Breaking Benjamin
-"A Dark Congregation" - The Hush Sound (The beat isn't very fast, but the lyrics are great. Plus, their music is just amazing. I've been obsessed with their music for a few years.)
-"Sweet Tangerine" - The Hush Sound (My favorite song of all time. Not so much death as it is "ghost like". I think I'm stretching it with this, though. :p )
-"Wine Red" - The Hush Sound
-"Don't Wake Me Up" - The Hush Sound
-"Reclusion" - Anberlin
-"Godspeed" - Anberlin
-"Sweet Surrender" - Sarah McLachlan
-"Magnolia" - The Hush Sound (Another stretch, but the lyrics are so pretty.)
-"Blasphemous Rumors" - Depeche Mode
-"How To Save a Life" - The Fray
