Target "Party Entertaining with Threshold"

Target just released this commercial a few days ago, and I heard and recognized the tune. The original was done by a group called "Friend and Lover" 1967.

However, the singer in the Target commercial sounds much younger UNLESS they are using a different cut of the original song.

Anyone know if it is the original or not?

They may have labelled it as their own, but the recording in that You Tube video is DEFINITELY the Friend and Lover version. I'm going to follow the link to their label and see if it is there. I'll follow up soon. Thanks!

I dropped a note to the ad agency. I am hoping they will clarify if THEY did a "cover" of the song or used a different cut of the original song.
