News of the Weird - Chuck Shepherd
Latest serendipitous injuries: In March, Donald Batsch, 54, was shot in the abdomen during a robbery in Bakersfield, CA., but during surgery, doctors discovered a tumor that surely would not have been identified until much later.
And in Southampton, England, in March, college professor Ronald Mann had a heart attack while driving , and his car smashed in to a tree, but his body's banging against the steering wheel acted like a defibrillato and restarted his heart. (Doctors said that if the car had had an airbag, Mann would be dead.)
And in February in Altamonte Springs, Fla., Ms. Arnie Fairclaw fell, broke her leg, and was taken to a hospital; later that night, a drunk driver lost control of his truck, which rammed her house and smashed into the bed where she would have been sound asleep.
I always read this stuff in the newspaper. I thought you might like it. :)

:o whoa....that's my kind of readin...you know I hate to read, I'm a lazy bastard

That's great. I love stuff like that.

Actually, I'm sure you guys have too but I heard tons of stories like this after 9/11 when I worked for American Airlines. There was one guy that was supposed to be on one of the planes that hit one of the towers and for some reason he missed the flight, then he just rebooked that ticket to go on another trip for November 12th to Dominican Republic and missed this flight too. If you remember, this flight crashed. I believe that the engine fell off and landed on someone's boat in their driveway or something like that. Anyway, he was calling me for a refund because he decided he wasn't going to fly anymore. :P

I think I remember you tellin us about that. Crazy shit.

Hey'd y'all know Seth MacFarlane was supposed to be on one of the 9/11 flights, forget which one though.

Yeah, I figured I had but thought I would post again for the noobs.

No I had not heard that. I couldn't even imagine being a person that should have been on one of those flights but for whatever reason I wasn't.

I think it was part of the wing. But the plane landed in a residential neighborhood in Queens. :(

...who have asked her to translate tattoos that they once thought were Chinese characters for attractive concepts like “power” and “love” but now suspect might actually say “General Tso’s Chicken special” or “gullible white boy."
