Hey Leone is there a resturant in Greenwhich village (spell check) called Susies Chinese Resturant?
If there is, I've never been there.

I know that there are probably lots of different views on this but, I have to say that this really does piss me off.

*deep sighh* I'm on your side with this one Rhonda.

Or at least what I assume your side is..

When I was in high school my family had started studying with the Jehovah's Witnesses, and as part of the religion we weren't "allowed" to get involved in anything government-related, including pledging allegiance to America. As they explained it, we were supposed to pledge an allegiance to God only.

So they taught us that we have a constitutional right to NOT say the pledge. Just stand out of respect and not talk.

And seriously, why the hell can't atheist kids do the same thing? They don't even have to stand, just sit there and pick your nose, damn!

Although I would be interested to see what anyone says in favor of this ruling, because so far the only argument for removing the pledge that I've heard was "We don't believe in God so why do we have to say 'under God' in the pledge?" and I just don't see that as a reason to get rid of the whole thing.

Yep, I completely agree. I understand and respect their beliefs but the MAJORITY of America believe it or not does belive in a higher power of some sort so why should the majority have to change everything for a small percentage of people that don't agree. I mean, just stand there and pick your nose like you said.

For example, when I was little my parents went through this anti-Halloween thing and we didn't get to trick or treat. Well, every year at school they had this big halloween party and everyone dressed up and brought candy and had a party. Well, me and my cousin had to excuse ourselves and we would go sit in the library or something while the rest of the kids had their party. But our parents didn't try to sue the school or anything just becase it was against their beliefs. They just explained to us both sides and why they believed they way they did and no big deal. No harm done. Why is it now days people feel they have the right to sue just because they don't agree with something?

*steps down from soapbox*
