Im trying to play the sims 2 open for buisness but it keeps saying Direct X 9.0 Video Compatiable graphics are needed. i installed direct x 9.0 but the same error message still comes up and help??

your 3d card is old... and doesnt support directX 9.0c, i think (you do have directx 9.0 C do you?)

try this:

start -> run

in the box, type dxdiag
hit the enter button

you are now in the direct X diagnostic program

browse the tabs and test whatever you can, one of them is bound to give you errors

if possible, check if that game has a 3d setup, where you can change options. if it is indeed your 3d card thats being a bitch, you can 'try' to set the rendering mode to software so you will be able to play it. its as pretty as any card on the market, but slow as a grandmother on crutches. still, if you set the options low and have lotsa cpu/ram...

another thing, get the latest drivers for your 3d card

another idea might be, to simply google the error message. someone else might have gotten that error, and there are people out there who are much smarter than me (and, less likely, ravi)

To add to what Kenneth said, if your card doesn't support DirectX, it should support OpenGL. Try to see if you can set it to that.

Anywhere, you will run the files after they are unzipped.
Yes! Thou shalt run the files where they are unzipped. Amen!

Happy Easter! :)
