Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind" has the line "ghost from a wishing well". Another possibility is "The Devil In the Wishing Well" by Five for Fighting. It includes the lyrics "devil at the bottom of the wishing well". One of these?

Ha ha Logan...I was posting at the same time as you...and was going to post the Five for Fighting song as well...Great minds
