Commons "The Light"?

Has a question about the song "The Light" from Common. Heard an extended mix of it the other day on the radio and it had a longer section of an older song he used in his version. Its the song used for the bridge. It goes..."there are times..when you need someone...I will be by your side...there is a light that shines special for you"

By question is what is the song used for the bridge? If anyone knows that would be great. Thanks for any help.

yeah..dude it's the song "Open Your Eyes" by Bobby Caldwell and it mentions sumthin about the drums and the song "You're Getting a Little Too Smart" by the Detroit Emeralds. i was wonderin what the old song sample was 2 but i 4got 2 ask about it...so thanx 4 remindin me hun!
