So yeah, it's nearly driving me crazy : I know neither the artist nor the song name, having heard it but a few times on the radio. For the record, it's an old tune (sounded like from the 60's-70's to me). Also, I think that the artist is a male solo artist, and not a band.

What I remember of the lyrics goes more or less like this :

"I wrote a song about a man who's lost his way
And I met him for the first time yesterday"

... Googling that in any order amounted to zilch. The singer is male, but there's a female chorus answering him on some parts (repeating the "wrote a song" part for instance). The song is only vocals + piano as I remember.

It's not much to go by, I know ; thanks for any help that's offered.

The only thing that is coming to my mind is "Old Man" by Neil Young.

I don't think this is right, however.

Just a shot in the dark...

"I wrote a song about a man who didn't know himself
He searched for years to find a better way to be
I found the words inside my head upon a dusty shelf
And suddenly the song belong to me

I wrote a song about a man who found a way
And I met him for the first time yesterday

I went to meet him in the garden of my memories
He showed me things I'd seen but never really known
He told me stories of a time that I remember well
Long before the seeds were ever sown

I wrote a song about a man who lost his way
And he found it for the first time yesterday"

There's some more of the lyrics, but I still don't know the artist or the name of the song.

Maybe "Waiting to Be Saved" by Face to face?

The lyrics are similar but not quite the same.

Moon of Steel - After All ?

I tried googling the lyrics "garden of my memories" and this is the only song that came up
