I haven't seen the film in some time, but as I recall, the music heard under the opening sequence is part of the original score composed by Jerry Goldsmith, with Shana Blake Hill providing the vocals.
The music is titled "The Mission" and can be heard as track 2 of the soundtrack CD (Amazon link). It's an incredible piece of music, which worked perfectly underneath the scene!!
The soundtrack also features pop-ish versions of the song (in English) titled "If We Could Remember", performed by Yolanda Adams.
