(although the CW will subsume both the WB and UPN, and some shows might make the jump)

Neither the WB nor the UPN has ever been profitable. They are combining into a new network called CW.

The Wikipedia is predicting Canadian availability, although the official site doesn't appear to say anything about it. Due to the exchange rate, sitcoms on the CW will be 30% less funny in Canada. (Not that they were all that funny to begin with...)

I could be mistaken, but that promo music IS for the new CW network (a combination of WB & UPN) , not for the WB. So if you are getting that promo, you're probably getting the network. Those promos are showing on my local WB station, which is switching to CW in the fall. Hopefully the same happens for you so you can continue enjoying Gilmore Girls, Smallville, One Tree Hill, and even 7th Heaven is coming back, I think.
