near the end of "the last of the mohicans" there is that scene (which seems to be everyone's favorite) where the promontory is played as alice is escorted up the mountain by magua, and uncas rushes after her, killing all in his path. anyways, uncas gets slaughtered by magua and then we see alice contemplating her own death. at this point, the majority of instruments stop playing so that basically all there is is a drum and very few other instruments. this continues until alice jumps off the cliff. does anyone know what this music is? i thought it was part of promontory, but it never seems to be included.

Alright, so most people will agree that the soundtrack to "Last of the Mohicans" is a classic.

My question is: what is the song that is playing when Alice jumps off the cliff? It sounds like "Promentory" and "The Gael," but several instruments have been removed. I wasn't sure if this was a separate song unto itself or if there just hasn't been a version of the soundtrack with this part available (and knowing my luck... it's probably the latter).

Anything you know would be much appreciated.

At ~3:00 into the song it does a bit of a fade out that matches the movie...at least on the version of the soundtrack that I have (the original from 1992 where the song is 6:15 long, not the rereleased version from 2000 where it's cut to 5:38)??

brockster_warren,

What you are talking about occurs at ~5m38s in this YouTube clip.

Wow, is that little snippet really that important? :ermm:

If iamkgb is correct, then hit ebay or used book stores and look for early versions of the soundtrack on CD.

Oh yeah! Uncus definitely gets his milkshake drunken by Magua.

Such an amazing fight scene... Brutal, soaring, poetic... :( Definitely one of my top five favourite films of all time.

"Proment" by Enya?
The song is called Promentory, but it's NOT by ENYA...I repeat NOT by Enya...if you d/l it, a lot of the sources claim it to be Enya...or Enya and Yanni...it's not... trust me...

Now Clannad does perform "I will find you" on the soundtrack...and Enya's siblings and cousins are part of that group (she was originally for a while too)...

All the other music is original composition by Randy Edelman and Trevor Jones.

Earlier poster was correct; it IS Promontory. I had the CD from way back when and just listened to the track; that part is included in the 6:13 version of it. Why they'd go in and remove those seconds is beyond me--if it ain't broke, don't fix it!!

But yeah, you're probably going to have to find this version; it's not the one for sale on iTunes. The cover is different. You're looking for the one with Hawkeye running toward the camera view, with the smaller pic of him and Cora. I got mine from Amazon years ago; I think they still have it.

The song was also used in the Nike football commercial where the weather changes and teams are different and the song is called Promentory or how ever it is spelled. You can download the version you are looking for on I tunes or Ares which was where I got it!
