Inglourious Basterds
It may be QT's homage to the 1978 Italian movie "Inglourious Bastards". Apparently there are similarities between the 1978 and QT's 2009 movie, although QT has stressed that Basterds is an original work and not a remake of the 1978 film.- s1m0n
