Sounds like Incubus

Ok, this has been pushing me to insanity. I was driving the other day, and I recognized a song I've heard so many times, but I still don't know the title of it or who it's by. All that distinguished it was the beginning had the sound of scratching records with guitar. (This is such a popular song, and once I know the artist I'm going to go insane because I'll remember). It reminded me a lot of Incubus, but I'm not sure if it was them or not. I don't remember any lyrics, but I can point out that the chorus or pre-chorus (whatever it's called) used two distinct words, or one compound word. Something maybe like... "Never happened" or "Never Mind"

I heard it on an alternative/basic rock station.

Any ideas?
