    Default Aria Resort and Casino

    Sponsored Links

The new "words will fail you" ad for the soon-to-open Aria Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas just came out and it features a solo piano work that struck my fancy. I've tried checking the hotel's website and some other places but can't find anything to go on. Does anyone know if the piece is published or just written for the ad? If it helps, I'm pretty sure the commercial was put out by MGM/Mirage.

Here's the youtube link: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UkX3RhK4udk"]YouTube- ARIA Resort & Casino, Las Vegas- Words Will Fail You[/ame]

I think the piano solo is Winter Ride by Kostia. The CD that has this piece in it is Suite St. Petersburg A Piano Portrait.

Okay, my question back is...Did you want to know the name of the piece in order to find the CD and listen to it or because you are a pianist and want to play it? If you are a pianist, as I am, good luck in finding the sheet music for it. If you find the sheet music, please respond back so I can play it as well. Thanks, Wabie

Doesn't sound the same. It may be "Song Without Words" by Mendelssohn

I suggest listening to Winter Ride and the commercial again and comparing. I know for a fact that the piece was performed by Kostia because I called Aria in Las Vegas and asked what the piece was because I would like to play it on piano. They were only able to tell me the performer's name, which is Kostia, or Konstantin Efimov.

If you agree, tell me how to get the sheet music for this piece. I would love to play it.

I saw the commercial and went looking for info. And here it is! Wow!

You may want to do the same. I listened to Winter Ride, and then the commercial, but they're not even remotely similar. How in the world did you make this correlation? I assume you work for the resort, or someone involved. No offense, but that's quite a stretch, and it's hard to understand how you could draw that connection.

Anyway, even if it's the same guy, it's not Winter Ride, not even a derivative, and it's not any piece from that album. I haven't listened to the Mendelssohn composition yet - maybe that was the inspiration as someone else suggested.

    Great commercial!

It's not Mendelssohn either. Again, not really similar at any point. I just listened to the entire piece, then the YouTube video straight away.

Judging by the tight integration with the commercial, I think it's safe to assume that the piece was composed specifically for that ad.

Which, unfortunately, means that the sheet music probably won't be available. The good news is that it can be learned (to an extent) without a terrible amount of struggle. I sat at the piano after seeing the ad and could stumble through some sections rather quickly. It wasn't perfect, but with a laptop on the stand and the commercial looping I bet it could be tackled.
