Adtunes.com presents the Top 10 Most Memorable Ad Music of 2004. The keyword here is memorable, which means these TV commercials had music you may have loved or hated, but more importantly had songs you had trouble getting out of your head.

10. Swiffer's Swiff It
Companies like using popular songs in their TV commercials. Some even go as far as hiring the original artists to re-record their songs with new lyrics tailored to the ad. Devo front man Mark Mothersbaugh happily re-recorded the group's hit "Whip It" (iTunes), in this case, advising everyone to instead "Swiff It".

9. Flaming Sellouts
Over the cries of "Oh my God they sold out!" by some jaded fans, the venerable alternative band The Flaming Lips added a memorable song to a Mitsubishi commercial. The track "Do You Realize" (iTunes) joins a Mitsubishi Galant as it winds through city streets. (The song also appears in an ad for VH1.)

8. M&Ms Color My World
Sometimes ad agencies commission new music (or remixes of older songs) specifically for use in commercials, and it's becoming a trend for these songs to become more popular than the ad itself, and unavailable to the public. Catchy songs like "Color My World" from the rippling rivers of M&Ms ads are the modern equivalent of a commercial jingle.

7. Victoria's Secret Beauty and the Beast
Only Victoria's Secret could make news with the pairing of an aging musical icon and a half naked supermodel to sell their lingerie. Bob Dylan's tune "Love Sick" (iTunes) frames the unusual ad, as a creepy looking Bob Dylan is seemingly stalking supermodel Adriana Lima in the "Angels in Venice" commercial from earlier this year.

6. Welcome to San Andreas
Some of the year's biggest video games also feature high profile soundtracks. This was most evident in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and the use of the heavy metal era touchstone "Welcome to the Jungle" (iTunes) by Guns N' Roses. Not only does the song appear in both the GTA: San Andreas game and trailers, but enigmatic Guns N' Roses front man Axl Rose provides the voice of a radio DJ in the game.

5. HP's Picture Book
The creative spot from HP features people holding up picture frames as they capture still images of the moments around them. Some people are surprised to learn the song used in the ad is by the classic rock group the Kinks, titled appropriately enough, "Picture Book".

4. Striking Gold
This year's Adtunes.com Overseer Overexposed Album Award goes to the U.K. dance group Goldfrapp and their album "Black Cherry". In Nintendo's "Freeboy" commercial series, the viewer sees inside the mind of a Gameboy SP user as game characters swirl around him to the tune of the group's songs "Strict Machine" and "Train" (iTunes). Goldfrapp also joined actress Kate Beckinsale by the pool in a Diet Coke ad with their song "Tiptoe".

3. Revlon's Beautiful
Featuring the most requested song of the year, Revlon's "Four Women. Four Stories. One Destination." campaign starred actresses Halle Berry, Julianne Moore, Eva Mendes and Jamie King. Even more beautiful was the smooth and haunting song used in the commercial campaign, "Bellissimo" (iTunes) by the group San Ilya.

2. Apple and U2
After a long series of iPod and iTunes ads (featuring the music of groups like Black Eyed Peas and Jet), 2004 saw the peak of the colorful Apple ad spots with the appearance of the band U2. Incorporated into the familiar black silhouette style ad, U2's song "Vertigo" (iTunes) became a surprisingly good fit for Apple. The company even made an exclusive U2 branded iPod to go with the spot.

1. Six Flag's Dancing Fool
If there was ever a "most memorable" commercial for the year, it is the Six Flags bald pied piper moving to an infectious (for better or worse) tune. Featuring a few looped seconds of the Vengaboys song "We Like to Party" (iTunes), the campaign stars a strange dancing old man (called "Mr. Six" by the company), ready to bus unsuspecting families to a Six Flags theme park. We can still hear the song just thinking about it. B00000IOP4
