A cover of a cover sets the background for the latest Cingular "Allover Network" television ad depicting a guy waiting impatiently for a girl to call him back after their first date. Chan Marshall (aka "Cat Power") recorded a TV commercial only cover of the song "Hanging on the Telephone," originally recorded by the Nerves in 1976. However, the group Blondie popularized the song with their own hit version (iTunes) in 1978. (via Stereogum)
