just out of curiosity...

does adtunes.com get revenue from amazon.com:
(1) when someone clicks on a link to amazon through adtunes.com but doesn't buy anything,
(2) when someone buys a cd directly from amazon after clicking a link from adtunes.com,
(3) when someone buys a cd from an amazon.com zshop after clicking a link from adtunes.com?

i ask because i notice michelle usually edits messages to manipulate amazon links to credit adtunes, but i'm just curious as to in what ways (any site) benefits from amazon links.

No, only when something is purchased.

Yes.

(3) when someone buys a cd from an amazon.com zshop after clicking a link from adtunes.com?
Sometimes.

All sites signed up as an Amazon associate (like Adtunes.com) get a very small precentage on sales generated through their Amazon referral link(s). You can read more about linking to Amazon.com (and helping support Adtunes.com) here.

is there a way to help adtunes without having to buy anything?

so...whenever i link to a cd on amazon, i just add that little part in the link?

An Amazon link would look like this:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/XXXXXXXXXX/?tag=adtunes-20
Where XXXXXXXXXX is the specific ASIN number (seen in all Amazon product urls) for the CD (or whatever product) you are linking to. "adtunes-20" is our referral code on the end.

This is the easiest way that I've found. I cut and paste this (as seen above) when I make a link to a product. All you have to do then is just enter the ASIN number over the X's. You can cut and paste that number from amazon.

I really don't know why this didn't occur to me before but I've purchased a few things from amazon other than music. So next time I do that can I put the adtunes -20 thing at the end and will that give you guys credit or does it only count on music purchases?

Yes, we can get credit for most anything you buy at Amazon.com. There are several ways to include our code -- one easy way is to save our Amazon link with adtunes-20 referral code as your bookmark in your web browser:

http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/adtunes-20

You could use this instead of just amazon.com in your bookmarks.

Another alternative is to access Amazon.com through our Adtunes.com Store at:

http://adtunes.com/store/

All of Amazon's catalog is available, either by browsing categories, using the search box, etc. Think of it as another access point into the same Amazon.com catalog.

Then there are the direct product linking methods covered in the FAQ, but that is more for linking to specific items (like CDs) when posting in the forum.

Hope this helps. Any referral code linking to Amazon is always appreciated, as it helps support the site. :)

Just today I noticed that whenever there is music referrenced on the site, whenever your mouse is over that link, a small amazon pop-up appears that allows you to click and purchase the product directly from amazon.

I was wondering how this was done. I'm pretty familar with the amazon aws, but I couldn't find anything about it in the view-source of the site.

Anyone can fill me in on how this all works? :)

Thanks.

It's a Javascript available in the Associates area of Amazon.com. Whenever someone uses our Amazon.com referral link:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/XXXXXXXXXX/?tag=adtunes-20

(where XXXXXXXXXX is the product's ASIN code), the link should pop-up when you hover over it via a Javascript code. You'll need to check the Amazon.com Associate's area for more info.

Yeah the selling of individual songs. I've never seen it from them.

Yeah, it's fairly new. I think they'll keep it around 'cause they have to compete with iTunes.. Which explains the occasional .89 cent dl.

I hope that they do it with every CD so that iTunes can die the slow painful death it deserves. :woo:

Amazon.com just launched their MP3 download store, which you can visit/bookmark here:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=...9&creative=9325

You'll need to visit the MP3 store directly to search for songs to download -- searching through the regular Amazon.com music section will only return CD search results.

People seem to like the Amazon.com MP3 store because their downloads do not have any DRM (digital rights management) protection like iTunes tracks and are priced at 89 cents.

You can link to any Amazon.com MP3 download by ASIN number like any other product at Amazon -- using our referral link code is always appreciated:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/XXXXXXXXXX/?tag=adtunes-20

I recently uninstalled firefox and then reinstalled a new version of it which deleted my bookmarks. I am wondering how to get the amazon.com linker which I could use for referrals for adtunes? The old posts here do not work when I save them as a bookmark.

My recent post in the 28 days later soundtrack does not have the proper referral code link which is why i'm asking.
