i'm trying to recall a song from the nineties? It wasn't pump up the volume but it did have the line put the needle on the record and then a man would talk about rhythm and meleody rhythm and melody --- help me out?
 
"Rush" by Big Audio Dynamite? I don't recall it having "put the needle on the record", but it definitely has an interlude with a repeated sample about rhythm and melody.

Interestingly enough, "Absolutely Fabulous" by The Pet Shop Boys has those exact same lyrics.
