What is the name of the song in the new pepsi pinball style commercial?
In the commercia, a huge pepsi ball is rolling through a parking garage and street like in a big pinball game.
The song sounds like it's in French.
I believe it's a new commercial beause today is the first time I've seen it.

Actually, I think it's a harder cover of PB's "Ca Plane Pour Moi". Anyone know who might have covered it?

Thanks in advance...

It IS a cover, not 100% sure but it sounds like the Presidents of the United States of America version.

Thanks - I didn't know PUSA had covered it. I'll see if I can find that version (my husband probably has it) and either confirm or deny it's theirs.

I'll need to see/hear the commercial again, but the PUSA track sounds pretty dang dead-on - thanks, ishtarandromeda! :D

Other covers of "Ça Plane Pour Moi" I found (but don't sound quite right) are by Thee Headcoatees, LTNO & The Dead Sexy Inc, Spider Nick & the Maddogs, Les Sans Culottes, Morticia's Lovers, The Humphries, and Paula. I smell a comp CD coming on! :p

Thanks again! :peace:

Wasn't this song also used in Natioal Lampoons European Vacation? Which would make it impossible for "Presidents" to cover? It sounded like the original to me in the commercial.

The one in the commercial is definately NOT the original by Plastic Bertrand. Lots of bands cover this song, but the closest match I found to the Pepsi commercial was indeed the PotUSA version. If you have ever heard thier rendition of "Video Killed the Radio Star" from The Wedding Singer soundtrack, they do a fairly decent job of making the song sound a LOT like the original, yet it still has that "modern" spin on it.

So it's easier to compare, here is the commercial:

Here is the Plastic Bertrand :30 sample:

I'm still not 100% sure that it IS PotUSA covering it, just the closest version i found so far:

If you listen carfully you you notice that the Plastic Bertrand version sounds definitavely French, as in the correct accents on the words (this most likely because the band is from Belgium and French is one of several of thier native languages). Yet the Pepsi commercial sounds less French, more like an English speaking person trying to sing in French but not quite getting the accent dead on. Most likely because they are reading the lyrics and not necessarily proficient with the language. It's a subtle difference I know.

Yes, the Pepsi Pinball ad is a cover of Ca Plane Pour Moi by the Presidents of the United States. (originally by Plastic Bertrand)

Here are some good sources and info:

From wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ca_Plane_Pour_Moi
Plastic Betrand's songs have been covered by a number of American bands, including Sonic Youth, The Presidents of the United States, Leyla Kaye (Prince) and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and have been used on the soundtrack of films including National Lampoon's European Vacation, Three Kings and Me, Myself and I.

Here's a nice link to a comprehensive article:

and of course... the ad itself:

and i think at one point in the commercial it rolled down the street famous for being the most crooked street in the world, and it made pinball sounds when it hit the edges
please help me find it thanks :D

Anybody got the rock song from that Pepsi ad with the guy rolling on the Pepsi logo ball throughout the city? Thanks!
