Default AARP food fight

Does anyone know the real catchy song in this new AARP commercial that features several people sitting around a dinner table throwing cake, among other scenes. The song has a really cool slow tempo guitar part interjected with a fast punk rock section and then back again. The super catchy slow part sounds Strokes-ish but it definitely isn't. HELP. I really like this tune.

On the new(?) AARP commercial, with all the birthdays, there's a rather glee-ful sounding song playing (which may or may not be about birthdays). I have yet to see the commercial again, unfortunately.

Does anyone know what this song might be?

"Everybody's Happy Nowadays" by The Buzzcocks

Get it at Amazon.

Now I've seen(or heard) it all. The Buzzcocks, "Everybody's Happy Nowadays" on an AARP commercial. I registered to this site just to find out if it really was, and before I got home (registered at work, heh heh) to validate my registration, I found out from a regular search that it was indeed the Buzzcocks tune.

The Buzzcocks are back together and looking a little long in the tooth, so I guess it's OK for AARP to use one of their songs, but it's still... punk. Now that I think of it, "Orgasm Addict" would make a great song for a Viagra commercial!

I figured I would share that here anyway. It's a pretty obscured tune, so if anyone was wondering...

I'm suprised the forum thread didn't come up on my regular search, but I confess I didn't search the forum (actually I don't know at this point if there is a search function on this forum). I have the song (pretty much all Buzzcocks) and even an old VHS of "The Party Animal" of which it's part of the soundtrack, but the clip is so short on the commercial and it's not actually The Buzzcocks performing (doesn't sound it anyway), so I had to check to be sure.

Good to see there are some "old punk" fans around. Punk has been pretty "mainstream" for a while but the AARP.... Sheesh!

Ha ha ha... Having been a Mod myself, I should have searched first, or at least gone to page two (where the original thread lies). I just got so few hits on a Dogpile search (which ususally finds forum threads) that I didn't think anyone was asking about an old Buzzcocks song.

Well now I know to always forum search first before asking (like everyone should do).
