Simply Red's "Sunrise"

I know Hall & Oates is sampled in this song, that is clear. However, there is a hint to another song as well, from the late '70s. Around where the woman sings in Sunrise, is the song of which I speak. The original song that is sampled, would have had the lyric "Hooow loooong, has this been going on? Tell meeee, Hoooow looooong, has this been going on?"

I turn to the talented ears here, because you guys have impressed the hell out of me. Hope you guys can help now, cause it's driving me nuts!

That's correct, Paul Carrack wrote "How Long" while he was in the band Ace. Carrack, with his fellow members of Ace, performed it.
