Target "Design Creates"

I have seen two recent Target commercials. Are you referring to the one that is all music, or the one with the lyrics, "All Possibilities"?

If you are referring to the one with the lyrics, you are looking for, "All Possibilities" by Badly Drawn Boy from his album, Have You Fed the Fish?

And might I add he is my favorite music artist and this one of my favorite songs by him :) You should definately check out more of his music!

I think you mean the one I just saw and was looking up - it's The Yardbirds "Shapes of things"

Yeah I got confused on my Target commercials...I just saw the one you were referring to...I'm not sure, personally, but the person above me is probably right. :)

Has this one been confirmed? I'd been trying to figure out who does this Target commercial as well. To be clear, I don't think it is either The Yardbirds or Badly Drawn Boy songs... but I'm not sure. The end of the commercial contains the line "Nothing can change the shape of things to come" like four times.

I actually have a cover song by the Ramones (off of Acid Eaters) called "The Shape Of Things To Come" that I'm pretty sure is the song. I looked up who wrote that song and it said Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil and googling that came up with "Max Frost and The Troopers"? But I'm not sure whose version of the song is being used in the actual commercial...

You're correct, palebear. The song from the Target commercial is "Shape of Things to Come" by Max Frost & The Troopers. It may be found on Disc 2 of Rhino's most excellent box set Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era. It was indeed covered by the Ramones on Acid Eaters.

Hey there, the new Target ad (with the egshell bowls and designer profiles)- plays to some cool song - the words are: " there is nothing I cant see - for possibilities.."
Any clues?
Cheers!

I think that was answered as "All Possibilities" - Badly Drawn Boy. I was looking for the music to a different Target commercial, and that one came up as well.

Target "Design Creates"

Does anyone know the background song to the most current Target commercial? It has this funky, mellow beat to it with a thumping bass sound. I could only catch the last lines "...more possibilities..." Once I see the commercial again I'll give you more visual description. Thanks.

The song is from the 1968 movie "Wild in the Streets." I've seen the movie, and I own the soundtrack (on vinyl). It is listed as performed by "Max Frost and the Troopers" -- Max Frost is the title character of the movie, played by Christopher Jones. A twenty-something rock star who becomes US President. The movie played on the fears of the "older" generation that the youth counterculture would take over. It's a really funny period piece. Hal Holbrook played the Senator (doesn't he always play a Senator?) who attempts to harness the baby boomers by pushing for a lower voting age. Richard Pryor was in the movie -- I believe it was his movie debut.

Check out the IMDB entry for the movie here.

and you can view a trailer here.

The version in the spot is by "Max Frost and The Troopers".

MUSIC: Badly Drawn Boy: Licensed music, “All Possibilities,” (“Design For All/Anthem '06” and “Designer Quilt Series”); Max Frost and The Troopers: Licensed music, “The Shape of Things to Come,”
(“Branding Circles"); Modern Music/Minneapolis: ("Luella Bartley") Composers: Rick Meyer and Daron Walker.

Target "Design Creates"

Almost like Pet Shop Boys. I can't put my finger on that recording. Help?

This is the most recent very colorful Ad. Opens with "Design Creates" over a blonde approaching in long black dress with other beautiful women and tag "Design For All" followed by the red target.

...green crayon and gold paint. They mention something about design. It is a man singing, and he only sings a few notes. I can't make out any of the lyrics. If anyone could help me with this one I'd be really grateful.

Thanks.

I found some more info. The lyric the man in signing is "possibilities". It is also used in the commercial for Liz Lange.
You can view both commercials here.

I did some sleuthing and the song is called "All Possibilities" by Badly Drawn Boy. It's on their album titled "Have You Fed the Fish."
