Examples of good ones:

Crosby Stills & Nash - Woodstock
Jimi Hendrix - All Along The Watchtower
Santana - Black Magic Woman

^ Please note these were all done decades ago. Take the hint, P Doodly.

Also:

Janis Joplin - Me and Bobby McGee
Santana - Oye Como Va
Cowboy Junkies - Sweet Jane
Guns N Roses - Sympathy For The Devil

"Twist and Shout" - The Beatles
"Crossroads" - Cream
"Hurt" - Johnny Cash
"Mad World" - Gary Jules
"Mr. Tambourine Man" - The Byrds
"Respect" - Aretha Franklin
"Hallelujah"- Jeff Buckley
"I Heard It Through The Grape Vine" - Marvin Gaye
"The Man Who Sold The World" - Nirvana

*I know it's been mentioned, but no list is complete without the bestest one ever:

"All Along The Watchtower" - Jimi Hendrix

Really? I always thought that Trent covered it and Cash wrote it.

Fear Factory did a remake of Gary Numan's "Car's" that actually features Numan singing in the song. I don't know if you call it a cover, remix, remake, featuring.........?

  I remember that!! I was in the parking lot of a Chinese restaurant first time I heard it.

Seriously? I take it you're not a NIN fan?

Actually, most of the songs on American IV, and all of Cash's American Recordings albums for that matter, are covers/remakes. Still, hell of an album. B)

all of Cash's American Recordings albums

Correction: LOTS of his were covers but he did do a lot of writing.
Sorry, I guess I was unclear. What meant was most of the songs on ALL of the American Recordings albums, not just IV, were covers. I didn't mean to imply that all the songs on all the albums were covers.

But thanks for the reprimand. ;)
