The Kentucky Derby

Does anyone know what music they used when they did the life profiles of some of the jockeys and owners involved in the Kentucky Derby coverage on NBC? I know it was music from a movie, maybe Pearl Harbor, but I'm not sure and I can't find any music credits for it.

I'm pretty familiar with movie soundtracks and I'm also a huge horse nut, so I always follow the KY Derby and subsequent Triple Crown races each year. From what I've seen/heard in the past, they quite frequently use tracks from existing movie soundtracks, especially from movies scored by Thomas Newman. Here are some examples:

I recently purchased the tribute/documentary film on Barbaro (2006 KY Derby Winner) and was kind of disappointed in the music because I definitely remember hearing different music/score during the TV premiere of the film. I guess when they released the film, they couldn't get the licensing/rights to use it in the film once it was distributed.

2010 Kentucky Derby

I was wondering if anyone else was watching the Kentucky Derby yesterday and heard the piece of music just before they started the walk to the gates. There were a few pieces that I recognized in there throughout the couple of hours of pre-race show, but this was one that I have never heard and therefore do not have for my own personal enjoyment. If anyone can help me find out what this piece was I would be forever grateful.

nbc theme song for horse racing

hey i was watching the kentucky derby a few weeks ago and the preakness races on nbc and i heard this song i was hoping to use for something. i havnt been able to figure out what name of it or if a longer version is out there. if anyone knows or can find it that be great, thanx

Kentucky Derby

NBC has been using a theme song for the opening of their horse racing broadcasts for several years, and this year at the Kentucky Derby, they used a remix of the same tune. Does anybody know the composer of the song, or if it is an adaptation of a song from somewhere else? I get so hung up on theme songs!

It appears that since 2002, NBC has been using original music by composer David Arkenstone:
