In the mid-1980s, there was a commercial with the whole "Bo Knows" campaign - Bo Jackson is undertaking various sports and excelling at them - they were saying "Bo Knows Weights", etc. - there was one bit where he tried to play hockey, and Wayne Gretzky skates up and says "No."

At the end, Bo tries to play guitar, does so very poorly, and Bo Diddley says, "Bo, you don't know diddley!" - anyway, apart from Bo Jackson's attempt at playing, there is some very lively music in the background, lots of wild guitar - I am assuming it was Bo Diddley's music - can anyone identify it for me? It's been eating at me for a couple of decades here -

Thanks -

Try to find a copy of the commercial online and point us to it. You might try www.ad-rag.com. A small fee is involved to view ads. There are also many research links at the web site.

If you can find it and other people can see it, then someone might be able to ID it.

Thanks for the info, Nano - I have struck out so far, but more information on this commercial - from:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bo_Jackson

"Jackson became a popular figure for his athleticism in multiple sports through the late 1980s and early 1990s. He endorsed Nike and launched a popular ad campaign called "Bo Knows" which envisioned Jackson attempting to take up a litany of other sports, including tennis, golf, luge, auto racing, and even blues music with Bo Diddley."

And from:

A lesson in how the mighty have fallen, this spot showcases the former über-athlete Bo Jackson. Long before Michael Jordan was His Airness, Bo was the man. Here, sports stars laud Jackson. "Bo knows football," says QB Jim Everett. "Bo knows baseball," says outfielder Kirk Gibson. "Bo knows basketball," says bit player Michael Jordan. "Bo knows tennis?" asks John McEnroe. "No," says an ice-skating Wayne Gretzky. Jackson's only misstep: jamming with Bo Diddley. After Jackson hits some bad notes, the musician says, "Bo, you don't know Diddley."

And here is a snap from that very commercial:
