Origin of the THX Sound

I found out something interesting yesterday. For those of you who don't know, the loud THX sound chord came from the score of the 1979 horror film "When a Stranger Calls".

I'm curious as to if anyone has seen this movie, cause I feel like watching it just to hear the sound - lol.

I wonder why THX would copy that sound, though. Wouldn't that be obvious?

I thought the THX sound was created with a mathmatic algorythm or something.
