Adtunes presents the Top Ad Music of 2010. Here is the semi-annual list of some memorable commercial music from the past year.

10. Adidas Magic

This year's example of a song's artist also appearing in a commercial is the Adidas "Mega Diner" commercial, with the song "Magic" by B.o.B. (featuring Weezer lead singer Rivers Cuomo). The rapper appears in the ad serving up shoes from the grill in the Adidas themed diner.

9. High Rolling Super Models

The supermodels ask "What is Sexy?" in a Victoria's Secret commercial via "High Roller" by The Crystal Method. The Victoria's Secret ad music is a bit of a throwback -- you would more likely hear artists like The Crystal Method in TV commercials in the earlier part of the decade rather than in more recent years.

8. Looking for Trouble

A dog seeks to protect his favorite bone in the Travelers Insurance "Prized Possession" commercial. The ad used the song "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne. The folk singer's tune has also appeared in several TV show soundtracks, including The Office on NBC.

7. Requiem for Dexter

A popular trailer music cue appears in the Dexter commercial for Season 5 on Showtime. The (overused, but still effective) track is "Lux Aeterna" by Clint Mansell from the Requiem for a Dream movie soundtrack. "Lux Aeterna" was rearranged and re-orchestrated for use in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers trailer, and given the title "Requiem for a Tower". It is also a popular movie trailer track.

6. Soulless Sister

Hope aboard -- the most overplayed (aka our annual Overseer Overexposed Award) song in media this year was "Hey, Soul Sister" by Train. The chart topping song was featured in countless TV commercials, TV shows, film trailers and movie soundtracks. Far too many appearances to count, the Train hit has been used in everything from a Samsung LED TV with Apps commercial to a Katherine Heigl movie trailer. We are guessing the song being licensed to more outlets will not be ending anytime soon.

5. Hear a Pin Drop

Automaker ads occupy several spots in this year's ad music list. The first is the Kia Sportage commercial featuring the song "Ping Drop" by Asche & Spencer. Based in Minneapolis, Asche and Spender compose music for commercials and films, including the Oscar winning movie Monster's Ball.

4. Hockey Mom

A busy "Hockey Mom" shuttles her three kids around in the 2010 Subaru Forester ad backed by a combo of accordions, mandolins and banjos. The catchy Irish folk rock song in the spot is "If I Should Fall From Grace With God" by The Pogues. Although the SUV ad touts the Subaru safety record, the lyrics to The Pogues song about death do not seem to line up with that message:

If I should fall from grace with god
Where no doctor can relieve me
If I'm buried 'neath the sod
But the angels won't receive me

If I Should Fall From Grace With God

3. Kia This or That

This Kia hamsters are back for more of "This or That" in the Kia Soul commercial, featuring the song "The Choice is Yours (Revisited)" by Black Sheep. It is no surprise the hamsters made a return appearance in the automaker's ad campaign -- the previous year's Kia ad won the Nielsen Most Effective Automotive Ad of the Year award.

2. Social Network Likes Creep

The movie trailer for The Social Network (about the creation of Facebook by director David Fincher) made a big splash this year. One big reason is the trailer's use of a choral version of Radiohead's hit "Creep". The cover is by Scala & Kolacny Brothers, a Belgian women's choir headed by conductor Stijn Kolacny and pianist Steven Kolacny. The choir has had previous success in Europe, releasing several albums featuring their choral versions of popular alternative and rock songs.

1. NFL Goes Home

It was hard to escape the catchy tune "Home" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. The NFL made effective use of the song in their NFL "There's No Place Like Home" commercial. This year the band also had their song "Janglin" featured in a Ford Fiesta ad. With these appearances in various commercials, you would think the band has embraced the dark arts of commercial music licensing and would welcome inclusion in the Adtunes Top Ad Music of 2010 list. Well, you would be wrong, according to the band's management when we contacted them:

"We appreciate your interest but the band doesn't want to comment on this issue."

Fair enough. Instead, here's a popular YouTube video of father and daughter duo Jorge & Alexa Narvaez and singing their cover version of "Home":
