MTV's new Jennifer Lopez produced reality show, Dancelife, follows eight professional dancers in Los Angeles on their quest to land the next dance gig. Featuring auditions for music videos, concert tours, TV commercials and TV show performances, the series packs 30 minutes with requisite drama and a surprisingly eclectic music soundtrack.

Dancelife and other MTV series continue the network's direction of a schedule filled with reality programming -- the "Music" in the name MTV is no longer represented by music videos. By packing so much music into the soundtracks of their original shows, fans are more likely to be interested in what song was featured in the most recent episode of The Hills than what was the top video on TRL.
