TV Commercials Ad Music Reruns
Recycling a song is not taboo when it comes to TV ads and other media. Recently, Nikka Costa's "Everybody Got Their Something" has appeared in numerous ads that include Sears, Mitsubishi Endeavor and a promo for the new ABC TV show DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. A new ad for Dentyne Tango gum is reusing a song, previously heard in a Gap ad, called "Tempted" by Squeeze. The Who made a comeback with the use of their songs as C.S.I. themes, and the latest incarnation, C.S.I. NY, is no exception. The new spin-off series used "Baba O'Riley" in a promo ad for the show and is the new theme song. The same song was also heard in the trailer and soundtrack for THE GIRL NEXT DOOR, in a HP "Change" ad and in a trailer for AMERICAN BEAUTY. And the striking song from KILL BILL Vol. 1, "Battle Without Honour or Humanity," is backing the "seven deadly sins" of the 2005 Jaguar XJ8L in its "Can You Resist?" ad.
